Yay! Only two more weeks before thanksgiving break :)
While eating dinner at Cheddar's with a bunch of Hendrick House people, the Bears game was finishing up. Somehow the Bears lost, despite having a decent lead near the end. A lot of questionable calls that resulted in review, and weirdness with the game clock (it kept being reset). Oh well, as my roommate pointed out, maybe this will mean fewer cars tying up the roads on game days.
Jumping back to the start of the weekend, I supervised the Bang on a Can All-Stars performance at Krannert. It was merely ok, interesting modern music but not the type of thing I would normally go to. There was a noticeable number of people leaving at intermission and after the second act finished (that is, in case there was an encore, they didn't want to get stuck in the theatre). The second act itself consisted entirely of Terry Riley's In C. For forty some minutes. Reportedly, outside the theatre, it sounded like one long note being played--luckily inside it sounded a bit more enjoyable.
The surprising part is that Alina mysteriously appeared at the performance, apparently having taken the day off work (which takes place in New York) and flown back to Illinois for the weekend. We all ended up at Jack & Carolyn's for midnight snacks and Atari game playing. Good times.
Saturday in brief. Got dinner at Papa Del's for the first time in a few months. I like Lou Malnati's from home better, but Del's still ranks highly. Afterwards we watched L.A. Confidential and talked. The day ended about 2:30am, after I started burying Microsoft in bug reports for software I'm testing for them.
Even further back, the past week was consumed by an ECE 441 project. We have to present tomorrow to quickly outline what we did, but otherwise it's done, and I get to move on to my other projects. See comment about thanksgiving break above ;-)
