So I've had a bit of a break from blogging. I now live in Southern
California, where "winter" means that when the sun goes down there
_might_ be a slight chill. I left Chicago right before it got below
freezing, so I haven't seen any snow yet. Maybe next month when I head
back east for a short vacation. But really, I'll take this any day--I
get to go jogging without freezing my lungs :)
When I tell people I moved from Chicago, their next question inevitable is some form of "was it for love or money?" I didn't know anyone in San Diego, so I guess it was for money, such as it is. I work for ViaSat, a mid-sized
engineering company that makes communication equipment. As the
name implies, satellites are one part. I work on embedded network security
devices, another one of our main product areas. I've had the job just
over two months, and so far so good. They know how to recognize
talent--I already rate a corner office (okay, okay, so I have to share
it).
